When I was about 16 years, I saw a little dog, who really touched my heart. The owner told me that this was a cavalier king charles spaniel. From that moment my only thought was, that later, if I have been married, I want to have a dog, exactly like this one. And that is how it happend. In 1991 I`ve got my first cavalier from my husband as a present for my first five anniversaries. She was without a pedigree, but she was the most beautiful present I had ever got. I called her Chati. She died at the age of 6½ years because of a congenital kidney deviation, but I wouldn't have missed those years with her for the world. It was she who gave me my love for this wonderful breed. In 1999 I had my first litter with my third cavalier girl, since than I have occasionally a litter. The cavaliers I'm breeding with, are all tested on their heart (colourdoppler), patella luxation, eyes and syringomyelia (mri-scan). All the puppies that are born, grow up and live in the house with me and the other cavaliers. They are socialized, with lots of love and interaction with people, dogs and my cat. Now and then you can find me on a show, but more often, you can find me on the heathland. The name of my kennel is "Mascerade" (with the letter c). I found this an appropriate name, because of the little masks at the cavaliers. I am a member of the Dutch Cavalier Club.
